Tariffs (with Apologies to Joyce Kilmer)

Eakinomics: Tariffs (with Apologies to Joyce Kilmer)

I THINK that I shall call the sheriff
If they levy another tariff:

A tariff whose leaching mouth is prest
Against the American families’ breast;

A tariff that God looks at all day,
And reminds himself, I’ll get my way;

A tariff that over time may wear
The gears of U.S. commerce bare;

Upon whose reputation has lain
Well-deserved fear of devastating pain.

Poems are written by economic seraphs
But only fools levy tariffs.
