Comparing Recent Federal Proposals for Police Reform
In the wake of recent deaths at the hands of law enforcement and widespread civic unrest, federal, state, and local policymakers are seeking to reform policing practices. AAF’s Director of Human Welfare Policy Tara O’Neill Hayes compares the president’s executive order and proposals by House Democrats and Senate Republicans. Overall, there is significant overlap between the bills in the House and Senate, each of which builds on the directives set forth by the president, she notes.
