Media Advisory: Creating Jobs by Ending Regulatory Overreach: The Role of the REINS Act
WASHINGTON – The American Action Forum will host a discussion on U.S. regulatory burden on Tuesday October 25, from 10:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. in the Capitol Building.
The Obama administration has issued more than $80 billion in new and proposed regulatory burdens. The White House even concedes that there are more than 8.8 billion hours of cumulative regulatory compliance. With hundreds of major rules issued each year, Congress has little oversight authority to rescind onerous regulations. The REINS Act (Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny) would require that all new major rules receive approval from Congress and the President before implementation. Can the REINS Act restore accountability, trim red tape, and promote job creation? Breakfast will be served.
