The Costs of Nuclear Regulation
The American Action Forum released an infographic on the research detailing the costs and benefits of nuclear regulation. AAF found the construction of new nuclear plants typically begins after nearly a decade-long wait for regulatory approval and the average cost of compliance per plant is at least $8.6 million annually. While nuclear safety is of utmost importance, AAF found the nuclear industry is at a disadvantage due to burdensome regulatory hurdles and its unfavorable treatment under the Clean Power Plan (CPP).
