Yesterday the American Action Forum hosted an event on the future of Medicare Part D. Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) served as the keynote speaker and was followed by a panel comprised of Douglas Holtz-Eakin, President of the American Action Forum; former Senator Blanche L. Lincoln (D-AR), Founder of the Lincoln Policy Group; Mike Mason, Vice President of Lilly Diabetes; and Mike Anderson, Chief Pharmacy Officer for UnitedHealthcare. The Washington Post’s Paige Cunningham moderated the discussion.

In light of the event, AAF released new research on Medicare Part D’s private-sector model which has largely contributed to the program’s success. The research concludes that the Medicare Part D program is proof that a federal entitlement program can meet its mission while remaining under budget if the right incentives are coupled with the appropriate consumer protections.
