AAF Research Shows Major Hurricanes Impact State and Local Populations

Today the American Action Forum released research examining how large scale hurricanes affect state and local populations. The research examined population trends in the regions overwhelmingly impacted by the three costliest hurricanes in American history. It found that these hurricanes not only disrupted population trends, but in some cases caused out-migration. The research concludes that, in light of this year’s catastrophic hurricane season, states and communities should be prepared for an uptick in hurricane related out-migration and population trend disruption.
