The American Action Forum released a new analysis of a white paper on risk-adjustment methodology recently published by CMS regarding the model used in the Affordable Care Act’s exchanges. The analysis outlines problems with the current risk-adjustment model and highlights the need to update the model in order to improve accuracy. Specifically, the research outlines the potential benefits as well as concerns regarding the incorporation of prescription utilization data in an effort to increase the predictability of patients’ expected costs. Comments on this proposal are due by Friday, April 22.
