January 3rd, 2019: A Historic Day in the Federal Register

Yesterday’s edition of the Federal Register set a surprising record: The full length of the daily compendium of federal administrative actions was…one page.

AAF’s Senior Regulatory Policy Analyst Dan Goldbeck finds zero historical precedence for such brevity, even during past government shutdowns. The fewest pages published previously during a shutdown came in 2013, when five pages came out on October 17th. The brevity of the two notices included in the register is also surprising, he notes.
