WASHINGTON- The American Action Forum, Employment Policies Institute, and e21: Economic Policies for the 21st Century will host a discussion on the health insurance coverage impact of the Affordable Care Act on Thursday, September 15 from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the W Hotel in Washington, DC.

Employer reactions to the law, specifically the potential for a large decline in employer sponsored health insurance coverage, have been hotly debated among policymakers and scholars.  Accurately predicting the potential coverage drop will dramatically impact the overall cost of the Affordable Care Act and the development of state insurance exchanges.

New research on the Affordable Care Act being presented by economists from Cornell and Indiana University finds that as a consequence of poorly-understood factors in the law, millions of employees could willingly switch from an employer plan to a government subsidized insurance exchange – even if their employer continues to offer coverage.
