New Primers: SNAP and WIC
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are federal programs to help low-income households purchase healthy food. In two new primers, AAF’s Director of Human Welfare Policy Tara O’Neill Hayes and Alexis Williams outline each program’s eligibility requirements, potential benefits, costs, and participation rates over time. Hayes and Williams also consider COVID-19’s impact on both programs.
