Paid Leave Tax Credit is Unprecedented… Now What?

The American Action Forum released a primer outlining important questions about the new paid family and medical leave tax credit included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. For the next two years, businesses will be able to claim the tax credit to partially offset the cost of providing paid leave. Since the tax credit is an unprecedented paid leave policy, policymakers and researchers should closely study it to determine the program’s viability.
