Re-Regulation at the Surface Transportation Board?
Today the American Action Forum’s Director of Regulatory Policy, Dan Bosch, released an insight examining the Surface Transportation Board’s (STB) consideration of a 2016 proposal for re-regulation of the rail industry. In 2016 the three-member STB proposed a rule which would lead to increased “forced switching” or STB-mandated reciprocal switching, but the STB offered no analysis of the proposal’s impact. Tomorrow, two nominees are set to go before the Senate Commerce Committee and issues around the 2016 proposal are expected to be discussed.
