In testimony before the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, AAF President Douglas Holtz-Eakin discusses the rural care economy and the economic outlook for rural communities.

His main points:

• No specific policies for the rural care economy can offset the negative impact of a poor macroeconomic environment;
• Due to prior policy errors, the United States is facing inflation levels previously unseen in a generation; and
• Overall macro policy should not further exacerbate inflation and specific policies should be consistent with strong market incentives; the Build Back Better agenda falls short on both metrics.
