AAF Research Finds Declines in Coal Are Mostly Due to Market Changes
Today the American Action Forum (@AAF) released new research examining the declines in coal. AAF research finds the use of coal for electricity has been declining since 2007, well before regulations seeking to restrict the use of coal were put into place. AAF research finds that low cost natural gas, improving efficiency of natural gas power plants and falling renewable energy costs have played a larger part in coal’s declines than regulations have.
