Press Release

Chinese Retaliatory Tariffs Expected to Affect Over $53 Billion of U.S. Exports

Today the American Action Forum released research examining the impact Chinese retaliatory trade tariffs would have on the United States. It estimates $53 billion of U.S. exports will be exposed to new Chinese tariffs in response to the Trump Administration’s Section 301 and Section 232 tariffs placed on China. The research finds that 10 states will face tariffs on over $1 billion of their exports, likely causing significant strain on their economies. The tariffs are expected to hit Louisiana, Washington state and Texas the hardest, with their annual exports affected by $6 billion, $5.3 billion and $4 billion, respectively.
