25-Percent Tariffs on Mexico, Canada – U.S. Consumer Costs
On Monday November 25, President-elect Trump announced he would place 25-percent tariffs on all imports coming into the United States from Canada and Mexico. Trump plans to implement these tariffs through an executive order immediately upon taking office in an effort to cudgel both U.S. neighbors into stemming the flow of drugs and migrants into the country. The consumer costs of these measures on an annual and monthly basis are displayed in the graphic below.
