Tara O'Neill Hayes

Tara O'Neill Hayes is the Deputy Director of Health Care Policy at American Action Forum.

Biography

Her research focuses on health insurance costs and coverage, the Medicare and Medicaid programs, drug pricing and reimbursement policies, and the budgetary impacts of health care programs.

Tara has served as a panelist at numerous briefings and health policy events. Tara’s research and insights have appeared in numerous media outlets, including The Washington Post, Forbes, the Washington Examiner, Politico, The Hill, Kaiser Health News, and Minnesota Public Radio. In January 2019, Tara was invited to join the National Academy of Social Insurance in recognition of her work on Medicare policy.

Before joining AAF, Tara worked as a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives for various members from her home state of South Carolina, covering a broad portfolio of issues including health care and budget policy. Tara earned her Master’s in Public Policy and Management with a health policy concentration from Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with Distinction. In 2014, Tara was named a David Winston Health Policy Scholar. For her undergraduate studies, Tara studied Political Science at Clemson University, graduating magna cum laude.
